An Evening With Kathleen Clyde

On Thursday, October 16, the Brown County Democratic Central Committee hosted a full room of residents at the Brown County Educational Service Center in Georgetown to welcome Kathleen Clyde, Chairwoman of the Ohio Democratic Party.

Clyde shared her history of public service and her deep roots in rural Ohio, emphasizing the Ohio values that have guided her career. She spoke about her commitment to listening to all parts of the state - not just the cities, and her vision for how Democrats can win up and down the ballot. Her message focused on protecting our shared values in rural communities and building the momentum needed statewide to elect more Democrats in 2026 and beyond.

Light refreshments were served, and attendees appreciated the opportunity to hear directly from Chairwoman Clyde about her inclusive vision for Ohio’s future.

Ohio Rising Dinner - Columbus, OH

Brown County Democrats were proud to attend the sold-out Ohio Rising Dinner on October 11th, with a full table of ten representing the county. The evening featured inspiring remarks from Kathleen Clyde, Chair of the Ohio Democratic Party; Sherrod Brown, candidate for U.S. Senate; and Dr. Amy Acton, candidate for Governor of Ohio.

It was an energizing night filled with vision and purpose as we heard directly from leaders who are committed to building a stronger, fairer, and more hopeful Ohio. Our members also had the opportunity to meet and speak with these candidates, sharing perspectives from Brown County and reaffirming our commitment to helping move Ohio forward.

Brown County Democratic Club Fall Fundraiser

The Brown County Democratic Club held its annual Fall Fundraiser on October 7th at Sons of Toil Brewing in Mt Orab, featuring guest speaker Rachel Coyle, co-founder of How Things Work at the Ohio Statehouse. Coyle, who described herself as “obsessed with everything related to the Ohio Statehouse,” emphasized the growing importance of state-level action as more responsibilities shift from the federal government to the states. She discussed topics including redistricting, local schools, and the importance of contacting state representatives. She took thoughtful questions from attendees on property taxes, gerrymandering, and school vouchers. The well-attended evening concluded with a silent auction of delicious baked goods donated by members and supporters.

Coyle encouraged attendees to contact their state legislators, pointing out that it’s far easier to reach state representatives and their staff than many realize.

2025 Brown County Fair - 9/22 to 9/27

This year's story...

What a week! The fair began with a canceled parade due to a tornado warning, but our “kitchen table issues” theme carried through in our fair building, where many said it looked better than ever. Despite the heat, rain, and lighter crowds, we were humbled by how many people stopped in to share thanks and talk about the issues that matter most.

We’re especially grateful for the new volunteers who stepped up and for those who returned to action again. None of this happens without the support and dedication of our team.

We’ll continue meeting our neighbors, listening to their concerns, and working tirelessly to build a stronger Brown County. We are here to stay - fighting for the people, the promise, and the future we believe in.

An Afternoon With Bryan Hambley - September 13, 2025

We were proud to host Dr. Bryan Hambley, Democratic candidate for Ohio Secretary of State, for a lively and inspiring afternoon.

The event opened with Dr. Hambley inviting attendees to turn to their neighbors and talk about what they saw as the most important Democratic accomplishment in U.S. history - a conversation starter that quickly sparked energy and connection in the room.

Dr. Hambley then spoke with passion and resolve about his vision for Ohio - especially his commitment to protecting and strengthening the voting rights of Brown County residents.

Guests enjoyed delicious Ohio shredded chicken sandwiches, a local favorite, along with our first-ever decorated hat contest and auction. The hats, ranging from beautiful to funny to wildly creative, showcased the spirit and imagination of our community.

The event was filled with conversation, laughter, and a renewed sense of purpose as we work together for a more representative and democratic county and state.

Memorial Day Weekend Fundraiser - May 24, 2025

Our 2025 May fundraiser was a resounding success, drawing a record-breaking crowd from Brown County and beyond.

Attendees included Democrats, Independents, and even a few open-minded Republicans - all eager to hear from our special guests, Governor Ted Strickland and Shelby County Democratic Chair Chris Gibbs. Their powerful and timely messages inspired hope and energized our efforts to build a stronger Democratic presence in rural Ohio.

The evening featured great food, engaging conversations, and a lively dessert auction that helped us raise our highest total to date. We are deeply grateful to our volunteers, donors, and attendees for making this event one to remember.
